Who Offers Roadside Assistance?

Being stranded on the side of the road is no fun. It is especially difficult when your phone’s battery is a few cells from dying. You only have a limited number of phone calls to make when reception and battery life are limited. Calling your roadside assistance service should be the first thing you do. Roadside assistance can offer all kinds of services to drivers who are stranded with their cars for a variety of reasons. Not all roadside assistance providers are created equal however. Who offers the best roadside assistance, to drivers, though? Read on to find out!

1. Allstate Motor Club

Allstate costs about $52 per year and offers drivers up to $100 worth of service. The assistance works so that you are reimbursed for the money that you pay up to $100. There is also the trip interruption benefit that offers up to $1,500 back for food and lodging should your car need repairing in the middle of a road trip. Imagine getting at least some of your money back when things go wrong. Allstate Motor Club, which is available to all regardless of insurance coverage, could be the solution.

2. AAA is popular

The Automobile Club (AAA) has been around for many years and continues to set the standard for excellence in roadside assistance. A classic plan costs around $56 per year and provides free towing for up to 7 miles. AAA roadside assistance also reimburses you for up to $50 should you need to pay for a locksmith.

Many drivers prefer the AAA classic plan because of the convenience that comes with the towing service. You only need to present your AAA card to receive the service. There are no upfront costs, and AAA towing covers the person and not the car. You can use your four annual tows to help a friend or keep things restricted to your own vehicle. The AAA classic plan also comes with other benefits that include identity theft monitoring and discounts to various businesses.

3. Good Sam

AAA restricts the number of tows in a year to four. Good Sam does nothing of the sort. This roadside assistance service is ideal for those who want the assurance in knowing that, no matter how many times they need help, it’s always a phone call away. A standard Good Sam plan costs around $80 and offers drivers unlimited towing along with continuous flat tire repairs. Jump starts, fuel, and locksmith services also come with the unlimited perk. Good Sam plans cover everyone in the family, so there is no need to purchase a policy for everyone.

4. AARP

If you are over 50-years-old and need roadside assistance, then AARP may be the right option for your needs. The program comes with two options. There is the Road ‘n Tow plan that costs about $58 annually and includes 5 miles worth of free towing. Then, there is the Premier option that costs around $74 every year and includes up to 100 miles of free towing.

AARP is definitely the cheaper option if you are looking for a roadside assistance service that offers free towing for a reasonable cost. The disadvantage, of course, is the age restriction for primary policyholders. You may want to consider AAA or Good Sam if you are hoping to get the most out of your plan. Allstate is by far the most straightforward plan.

Choosing the right roadside assistance plan is the equivalent to finding the insurance company that best fits your lifestyle. It is better to compare the four options above before making a decision.
