Each Gaming Console on the Market Has Their Own Strengths

Mar 19, 2022

This is the perfect time to be a video game fan. The games have never looked, played or felt better than they do right now. There are also so many excellent options that anyone can easily find games they will enjoy. By the time it takes to finish your current game, two or three more great games will have been released. This results in a near endless list of game options for every type of gamer.

When it comes to video game consoles, there are three distinct options available. Picking between the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X can be a little difficult because they offer their set of unique strengths. Here is a breakdown of key strengths of all three consoles.

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch is the oldest video game console on the market right now having originally released in March 2017, but the Switch still has one defining feature that cannot be matched by the competition. While you can connect the Nintendo Switch to any high definition television, the console can also quickly be turned into a mobile gaming device. This allows you to continue playing your favorite games whenever you need to leave the house. There are currently no other portable gaming consoles on the market right now, though the “Steam Deck” is on its way.

The other big draw of the Nintendo Switch is their lineup of exclusive games. If you want to play the beloved "Mario," "Zelda" or "Metroid" franchises, then you must own a Switch. These are characters that most video game fans grew up loving, so they will always have a soft spot in the hearts of gamers. Nintendo has a long history of creating fun and interesting games for all ages, and this does not appear to be changing any time soon.

PlayStation 5

The PS5 has been in production for well over a year, and it is still nearly impossible to find in the stores. The powerful new console allows you to play your favorite games in crystal clear 4K resolution. While every game is bound to look absolutely beautiful on the PlayStation 5, that is not its biggest strength. Sony has created the best controller ever made for a video game console. The PS5 controller offers haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that create a level of immersion never seen before.

The amazing list of exclusive games will also bring fans to the PS5. "Demon's Souls," "Ratchet & Clank," "Returnal" and "Horizon Forbidden West" are just a few of the PS5 exclusives that have released since the console launched. This list is just going to get more impressive over that next few years when "God of War 2," "Spider Man 2" and others hit the market. Sony has shown no signs of slowing down after their immense success during the PS4 generation.

Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X has the unique distinction of being the most powerful video game console available right now. Almost every multi-platform game is going to look slightly better on the Xbox Series X than the other consoles. Not only will they look better, but the games will also run with a higher frame rate. This is the first console that can compete graphically with a high-powered gaming PC.

Another huge strength for the Xbox Series X is the Xbox Game Pass service. This monthly subscription service provides access to more than 400 games for a small fee. Members are free to download and play as many games on the service as they want. This deal becomes even stronger when you consider that every Xbox exclusive game hits Game Pass the day it launches. This allows Xbox owners to play "Halo Infinite," "Forza Horizon 5" and "Microsoft Flight Simulator" without buying them. Xbox Game Pass is only going to get better as the latest games from Bethesda, Activision and Obsidian hit the service.
